Roasted Orange Habanero, Carrot & Tomato Hot Sauce Recipe:
Could this be the best hot sauce ever?! Maybe.
- Habaneros (as many as you have)
-
Orange Tomatoes (Chef's Choice or Pineapple Tomatoes)
- Carrots, sliced into spears
- Garlic (3-6+ cloves)
- Vinegar (such as White, Champagne or Rice vinegar, to taste ~ 2 Tablespoons)
-
Salt & Pepper
Roast carrots, halved habaneros and tomatoes in a cast iron skillet to brown a bit and condense in the oven under the broiler for 5-10 minutes, or on the grill on high heat, or sauté on high on the stovetop. Let cool in a glass bowl, then put everything into a food processor with several cloves of garlic and process until smooth. You can also roast/sauté some of the garlic if desired, though we like the spicy bite of uncooked garlic.
Add vinegar or water to thin to the right consistency. Add salt and pepper to taste, put into clean bottles or glass jars and store in the fridge. It won't last long!
Milder Version: If you love Habanero flavor but can't take the heat, you can also use our Habanada no-heat Habanero for this recipe, either with just one or two hot Habaneros and a few Habanadas or all Habanadas if you want a sweet hot sauce.
Habaneros make the best tasting hot sauce!
We think Habaneros are the best tasting peppers for hot sauce, they add a distinct fruity spice that has a unique flavor different than other peppers. Even the Habanada has great flavor, just without the heat. So if you want to make a delicious hot sauce, look no further than Habaneros! We sell a few different varieties of Habanero seeds, the Chocolate Habanero is also super tasty!
