In the West, September means that tomatoes are FINALLY ripening, including all the fat juicy heirlooms you've been waiting all summer for. It also is a great season for harvesting chiles, which are usually loaded with chile peppers in September. And of course, you probably have lots of other vegetables in abundance such as zucchini, tomatillos squash, cucumbers, eggplants, kale, collard greens, herbs and more.
