Vegetables You Can Plant in September

Just because it's September, gardening season isn't over yet! There are still plenty of veggies you can plant now. Here are some of our top recommendations:

Here are some veggies you can still plant in September:

  • Lettuce - Little Gem is a great variety to start in September! It also can tolerate light frosts.
  • Spinach  - Bloomsdale Spinach, a cold-hardy beloved heirloom variety known for its thick, crinkly dark green leaves and rich, nutty flavor.
  • Bunching Onions - a hardy, fast-growing variety prized for its mild yet robust flavor.
  • Peas - Sugar Snap Peas and Snow Peas are great to start now. If you put them under a hoop house you can enjoy their crunchy sweetnss for awhile before deep winter sets in! You can also enjoy pea shoots and the young tendrils of the plants even sooner.
  • Cabbage - Our Brunswick Cabbage seeds are the perfect cold-hardy German heirloom to plant in September for fall and winter harvests.
  • Broccoli - We have reliable, heirloom broccoli seeds that grow into broccoli plants that are known for their cold tolerance, producing 4-6 in. dense blue-green heads and abundant side shoots perfect for late fall harvests.

  • Radishes - Cherry Belles are the perfect choice for gardeners seeking a fast-growing vegetable that's easy to grow!
  • Beets - striking dark-red flesh and deep, sweet flavor.
