These tasty jalapeños have a nice medium heat and a little more sweetness than regular jalapeños. Their thick walls have a crisp bite that is great in salads and sandwiches.

The nearly black 3” long peppers have a bright sweet flavor with just enough heat. Peppers begin deep green and change to dark purple and finally mature to red. It is a beautiful ornamental plant when all three pepper colors are on the plant at the same time. The sturdy 24” tall plants have showy lavender flowers.

Capsicum annuum (85 days)  Heirloom, Open-pollinated

Heat Level: Medium Scoville: 5,000

~ packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, and bright light, and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are purple. If left on the plant a couple more weeks, the chiles will turn red at full maturity.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

Cute pepper plant

Grew the purple jalapenos last summer. Slow to get going, but ended up with a nice compact bush in a pot. I am trying to overwinter them by bringing the.pot inside for the winter. It is still growing, small purple peppers about 1" long.

Productive and beautiful jalapenos!

These purple jalapeños have such rich color, and the plants were very productive. Great for salsas and hot sauce.

Purple jalapenos? Who knew?!

Just got your seeds last week, can't wait to sprout these, watch them grow, and harvest some purple jalapeno jewels! I've grown several of your other jalapeno varieties and they all do very well, we love jalapenos in our house!! We use them for pickles, poppers, and adding to salsa. These will likely be a new favorite, I'll let you know how they do!
