These unique ornamental peppers showcase a dazzling display of purple, yellow, and red fruits all at once, creating a show-stopping visual effect. Perfect for containers, patios, or even as a small hedge, this Bolivian native is as easy to grow as it is eye-catching.
Why Choose Bolivian Rainbow Pepper Seeds?
This heirloom, non-GMO variety has been cultivated in Bolivia for centuries, prized for its striking appearance and hardiness. The 24" tall plants feature purple-tinged foliage and delicate purple flowers, followed by small 3/4" peppers that transition from purple to yellow and finally to red when mature. Though edible with a very hot heat level (30,000 Scoville units), these peppers are primarily grown for their ornamental appeal.
Key Features:
- Stunning multi-colored display - Purple, yellow, and red peppers appear simultaneously
- Purple-tinged foliage and flowers - Adds unique visual interest
- Compact 24" plants - Perfect for containers or small gardens
- Old Heirloom - Preserved for generations
- Easy to grow - Thrives in containers or garden beds
Growing Your Bolivian Rainbow Peppers
For best results, start seeds indoors 8 weeks before warm weather, planting 1/4" deep in seedling mix with 85°F bottom heat. Keep moist and provide bright light. Germination typically occurs in 7-21 days. Transplant when seedlings have 6 true leaves, spacing 18" apart in rich soil or 3-gallon containers. These peppers also grow well when directly sown in warm garden soil.

beautiful plants, so many peppers! we used them to make hot pepper flakes
Hello,I planted the purple, and the chocolate peppers and rainbow peppers all on march 29.The purple and the chocolate peppers came up.So far the Rainbow is a no show.Maybe needs more time?
These really are the best looking peppers you can grow, they are prettier than flowers with all their colors. We dried and crushed them at the end of the season for our spice cabinet, they have a nice heat!
These are beautiful pepper plants, with a literal rainbow of color. We enjoyed their beauty all summer long, then clipped the whole plant, hung it in our garage to dry the peppers. Now they're crushed into hot pepper flakes that we enjoy on everything. We'll grow these every year! Thank you for the wonderful seeds.
