How to use Dried Peppers

Using dried peppers for recipes is a great way to add flavor and spice all year round with your harvest!

how to use dried peppers

If you dry your homegrown pepper harvest, you can use a food processor, coffee grinder, or spice grinder to chop up your dried peppers. We also like to use a pair of kitchen shears or scissors to "cut" up the peppers into foods, as shown above. This is an easy way to add just a few hot peppers to any dish. T Keeping your dried peppers whole and storing them in a cool dark dry place helps preserve the flavor. In the photo above we're making our Cabbage Salsa / Mexican Coleslaw Recipe with purple cabbage, what a colorful treat!

You can also make Red Chile Sauce with dried peppers!

Make this Red Chile Sauce Recipe with dried Guajillo Chile and Hatch Red Hot Chile. You can toast the chiles to release their flavors, then pour boiling water over them and soak in a bowl, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 15 minutes. Then they're ready to make the sauce!
