Heritage NuMex 6-4 - Mild Green Chile Seeds
Experience the rich, authentic flavor of New Mexico with our Heritage NuMex 6-4 Green Chile Seeds. This improved variety delivers the perfect balance of mild heat and exceptional taste, making it a must-have for any home gardener or culinary enthusiast. Originally sourced from a 1957 seed bank, these seeds have been carefully reselected to ensure superior flavor, higher yields, and more uniform heat—everything you love about traditional New Mexico green chiles, but better!
Why Choose Heritage NuMex 6-4?
Grown from the renowned NuMex line by New Mexico State University, these chiles boast thick, flavorful flesh and grow to a generous 6" in length. The productive 30" plants thrive in both gardens and large containers, making them versatile for any growing space. With a Mild Scoville rating of 1000, they’re perfect for those who enjoy a gentle kick without overwhelming spice.
Easy to Grow & Highly Productive
Each packet contains 30 heirloom seeds from New Mexico, ready to bring your garden to life. For best results, start seeds indoors 8 weeks before warm nights arrive. Plant them in sterile media, cover lightly, and provide 85°F bottom heat with bright light. Keep the soil moist, and watch as your seeds sprout in 7-21 days. Once seedlings develop 6 true leaves, transplant them into rich soil or 5-gallon containers, spacing them 30" apart.
Harvest & Enjoy
Pick your chiles while they’re vibrant green for that classic New Mexico flavor, or leave them on the plant a bit longer to ripen into a deep, rich red. Whether you roast, stuff, or blend them into sauces, these chiles will elevate your dishes with their unmatched taste.

Grew here in NW Washington. Started in home then they had a late planting outside as I took a bad fall breaking my hip. Even though they finally took off in a wine barrel giving me enough to roast, chop and freeze for winter meals
Growing good
Waiting for the peppers to germinate. Raised bed is ready ..!
My mama grew some mild green chiles from Sandia Seeds last year and they were so good I just ordered all of my seeds from them for next years garden!
Shipping was fast, free and I was able to track it every step of the way with the shop app! So easy to use, and a genuinely great experience that I just ordered more!
I will write another review this time next year with all of my veggies displayed!
I absolutely loved growing and eating this pepper from seed to plate. Germinated well. Grew well in a container in Zone 6a. Prolific producer. Roasted well in an air fryer and tasted 10/10.
Love growing these in our garden, nice sized chile with good flavor.
