Sweet Banana - A great pepper for short season climates because it produces so quickly. It is versatile and flavorful and can be used successfully in a wide range of dishes. Pickled, stuffed or jellied are a few.

These sweet and crunchy peppers can grow up to 6” long. The fruit turns from pale green to light yellow, at which point it is ready to harvest. If left on the plant they will continue to mature to red. Plants are 24“ tall and easy to grow. Capsicum annuum (75 days) Heirloom - Open-pollinated

Heat Level: Scoville 0 - 500

~ Packet contains 30 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest peppers when they are light yellow and full size.

Once you harvest them, eat them fresh or they're also easy to pickle for even more flavor.

Best for sandwiches

We grew these and made refrigerator pickled slices, and they are so good on sandwiches! I only wish I grew a few more plants so we'd have more jars - they don't last long! We added some of your early jalapenos to the jars too for some extra spice.

Love these banana peppers!

I don't know why I put two seeds in each pod in my aerogarden, they all sprout so then I have to see if I can gently pull out the extra seedlings to transplant into their own pods. :) More is better, right? I just don't have it in me to throw them away or even compost them if they look like they have good roots. :) Anyway, these have been productive for me for years, I love to pickle them (quick refrigerator pickles, your recipe) and my husband LOVES them. I also will throw in a jalapeno or other hot pepper just to give them a little more heat. Perfecto!

Tasty and easy to grow

Really good germination rate, I think every one I planted sprouted. Plants were reasonably hardy, and put on a good amount of peppers. These were supposed to be sweet, but they ended up having a little heat to them. Made them a nice surprise. These are one of my daughter's favorite peppers.
