Mulato Isleño - A wonderful mild chile with a sweet flavor. It is slightly larger and sweeter than the Poblano. It matures to a rich chocolate brown and is sometimes called chocolate poblano. Mulatos can be used in both the immature and mature stage and uses include making rellenos, salsa, roasting, and drying. The dried Mulato is an essential ingredient in authentic mole sauce.

This heart-shaped pepper is 3” wide and 6“ long. It has a distinctive sweet flavor and ripens from deep glossy green to rich dark chocolate brown. Pods grow all season on sturdy 3’ tall plants. Open-pollinated - Heirloom - Non-GMO

Capsicum annuum (76 days)

Heat Level: Mild  Scoville 1,000 - 1,500

~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart in the garden, or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are dark green.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

only wish I had grown more

These were GREAT sellers for seedlings. We had poor germination with a few other varieties and these stole the show. Loved sharing these seedlings with people. Had great feedback that everyone's plant produced big, quality peppers!

Very prolific.

Planted 12 plants.what we did we roasted them and freeze them for later. We dried some,we made a seasoning powered. And best of all we gave some to our friends and neighbors. We plant again next year.

Over 35 Peppers per Plant

From the 8 robust plants that I planted from seed, I've harvested over 300 meaty peppers. I'm very pleased with the production. Much more than I ever got from the hybrid poblanos from Bonnie plants. I wanted to save the seeds so I didn't need to purchase expensive bedding plants, but planted more that I would usually need assuming that open pollenated plants wouldn't produce like the hybrids. LOL I foresee lots of chili stew in the future.

Thank you Sandia Seed Co.

Better than expected

Half of my pepper plants are producing heavy peppers that are over 5 inches. The largest plants are now 5 feet tall with many peppers. I'll be using one of them for seed stock, the largest peppers are close to 7 inches and the heat is perfect. Their spice reminds me of the Sandia peppers of my youth in the South Valley of Albuquerque. Pretty much the perfect pepper.
