A perfect chile for those that love Big Jim but want a little more heat. Large and hot meaty pods can grow up to 9” long. This Doublecross variety is a cross between Big Jim and Sandia Hot. It has the thick flesh of Big Jim and the increased heat of Sandia Hot. Heavy yields on 36” plants.

Rellenos will be incredible with this green chile!. It can be flame roasted for immediate use, and frozen for later.

Capsicum annuum (85 days) Open-Pollinated

Heat Level: Hot – Scoville: 9,000

~ Packet contains 30 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are green. If left on the plant a couple more weeks, the chiles will turn red at full maturity.

*Technically, to call any of these chiles "Hatch Chiles," they must be grown in the Hatch region of New Mexico. But we still think they taste great when grown all over the world, plus fresh homegrown chile is always extra-delicious and it's often hard to get New Mexican chile around the world! So this is way you can grow a little bit of New Mexico in your garden, no matter where you live.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

Not a review, but a suggestion

Hatch and Mesilla valley soil is slightly acidic. To make your chile grow to its fullest and taste authentic, adjust the pH of your soil to 6. I've been doing this for years in the mountains of AZ and everybody loves it. XX Big Jimmies every year.

review of ordering process only

Since none of the seeds that were purchased and planted have begun to sprout yet it is not possible to give feedback on the actual plant. However, the ordering process was very easy, and we will likely order from this company again. We are looking forward to enjoying the chili's that will be growing in our garden.
