Giadone chile peppers are the most delicious peppers you can find north of the NM state line. This Mirasol chile from Pueblo, Colorado is very meaty with a sweet flavor and hot heat. Its Scoville rating is known to reach 10,000 - 12,000 SHU.

History: A single pepper plant with more heat was selected from a crop of peppers grown from the bag of Pueblo mirasol seeds given to Dr. Michael Bartolo from his father. The seeds were from his late uncle, Harry Mosco, an Italian farmer that had farmed the east Pueblo area for decades. Read the story about the Mosco chile and the Giadone chile here: coloradocountrylife.coop

The Pueblo ‘Giadone’ has a different flavor from the Hatch chile. It tends to have thicker walls, which make it very easy to roast, and more heat.

Pods grow to 6-7" long with thick flesh and red color. They have a very distinctive sweet flavor with a lot of heat for adding to your usual favorite dishes. Plants are very productive and grow well in high elevation, short seasons or dry climates. Capsicum annuum (75 days)

Heat Level: Hot  Scoville 10,000 - 12,000

~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

Also be sure to grow the Giadone Chile's sister, the Mosco Chile, which has similar delicious flavor and thick flesh but is a little less hot at 5,000 Scovilles.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 10 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart. Harvest peppers when they are green or wait a few more weeks until they are red for great flavor.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.
