Milder than most jalapenos and has all the classic Jalapeño flavor. This early variety was developed by Texas A&M and is very productive and resistant to disease.  This 3” long jalapeno is so much milder than its relatives, with a Scoville scale of 1,000 to 1,500 compared to up to 5,000 for the Early variety. TAM Jalapeño can be made even milder by removing the thin membrane that connects the seeds to the wall of the pepper. The membrane is attached as a small band with capsaicin glands. They contain concentrated amounts of the chemical compound that causes the burning sensation. In short, if you like the taste of the Jalapeno but can't take its heat, this one is for you! Great for stuffing or grinding to make chili powder! Capsicum annuum (75 days)  Heat Level: Mild. Scoville 1,000 - 1,500 Open-pollinated, heirloom.    Packet contains 10 seeds  $2.49

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5-gallon containers. Harvest chiles when they are green. If left on the plant a couple more weeks, the peppers will turn red at full maturity.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

Productive plants

Great jalapenos for everyone in my family (not everyone appreciates hot heat). These are great for milder salsas and still provide plenty of flavor and just a little bit of spice. Also great for jalapeno poppers. Thanks for the fast-germinating seeds!

Great for my Mom

My Mom likes a little spice, but a lot of jalapeños are too hot for her, so I like to grow these to make jalapeño poppers or salsa with a little less heat. Great flavor!
