Datil is a blazing hot, little pepper with 3-1/2” fruits that ripen to a brilliant orange- yellow. The heat is vicious, but the flavor is complex, sweet and fruity. Datil is an exceptionally hot pepper and one of the most popular locally grown products in Saint Augustine, Florida. They have a festival there, that is completely dedicated to celebrating the Datil pepper in all its spicy glory. It is popular in many Minorcan recipes in St. Augustine and is used to create delicious hot sauces, jellies, and mustards that are sold all over town.  Plants grow 30“ tall. Capsicum chinense (100 days) Heirloom - Open Pollinated

Heat Level: Very Hot Scoville: 100,000-300,000

~ Packet contains 10 seeds.

In early spring, start seeds indoors 8 weeks prior to warm nightly temperatures. Place the seeds in sterile media and cover 1/4” deep. Provide 85°F bottom heat, bright light and keep moist at all times. Seeds will germinate in 7 - 21 days. Transplant seedlings into pots and grow until there are 6 true leaves on the plant. Plant them directly into rich soil, 30” apart or into large 5 gallon containers. Harvest peppers when they are yellow.

All of our seeds are GMO-free.

Beautiful plants

Been growing these peppers for about 7 years now and will always have them in my garden been making fermented hot sauce with these and also the traditional datil sauce that is tomato based that goes well with burgers or ribs. Beautiful plants, only need a couple plants because they are so prolific

Tasty and hot!

I have two Datil bushes, yielding nicely for two months now.
The fruits are about 1.5” long and bright yellow.
Great taste and medium-high hotness.

Delicious Datil Peppers

Super tasty peppers with yummy citrus tones and not so hot that you can't enjoy them. Great in salsa! This is a pepper we'll grow every year.

Beautiful and hot!

I love the vibrant yellow-orange color of these spicy and fruity flavored Datil peppers. They are great in salsas and for hot sauce. Very prolific, the seeds nearly all germinated. I will definitely be growing these again!
